Pregnancy loss and my new book, You Have A Sibling In Heaven
“In early August of 2018, at 5 months pregnant, we found out one of our precious little twin boys went to heaven to be with Jesus, while our other precious boy was still alive and healthy. We have never felt more heartbreak and happiness all at once. In October of 2018, they decided to come early at 33 weeks. Zion was born first (our Heaven Baby), and Zeb was born second. Zion means “heaven”, and Zeb means “gift from the Lord”. We have peace and joy knowing Zion is in a much better place, and we praise God for always being with us. Zeb spent 16.5 days in the NICU, but is healthy and home – all the more reason to praise the Giver of life!!! 💕 We could not be more overjoyed to hold Zeb in our arms, and to meet his brother Zion one day, even if we have to wait a bit longer than we planned. I am so thankful for a husband who so loves me and his babies, and a God who loves us all even more and knows the pain of loss. Thank you to all that have prayed for us, given gifts, made meals, shared a kind word or their own story of loss. It has been a blessing to have so many surround us, and eye-opening to learn so many we know have experienced this kind of loss. Thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff that cared for our family during labor & delivery, and our NICU stay. Your exceptional compassion, kindness, and dedication to our care made our experience one that will always be remembered. We are thankful for so many things this Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with my boys!”

I posted the above on social media almost two months after Zeb was born. From the moment we lost Zion, I was thinking of ways to honor him and tell Zeb that he had a brother in heaven. Being a graphic designer and creative person in general, I wanted to do it in a creative way. I landed on writing and illustrating a children’s book, and began the process in late 2019. However, I actually never intended to share this book with anyone but my immediate family. But God had other plans. This is our story, and my boys are the reason I wrote my children’s book, You Have A Sibling In Heaven.
