7 Podcasts & YouTube Channels I Love For Branding & Biz

I am a business podcast JUNKIE. Emphasis on business – I do listen to a few others that are faith-based or about The Office, but for the most part, my stack of podcasts is largely business-related.

What can I say, I love to learn. I’m also unashamedly curious about how others do the things that I want to do, or how they might do things I already do, but better.

I listen in the car, at the grocery store, while I’m doing dishes or laundry, as I’m taking a walk outside…. I even prefer podcasts over music a lot of the time.

I also love to turn on YouTube and just listen. I don’t always need to watch. I just need to hear the content and get the nuggets of wisdom shared.

All it takes to get me inspired and buzzed about my own business is to listen to someone else talk about theirs:

What’s worked, what hasn’t, and yes please, give me all. the. advice. on things I need help with.

I did look up the history of podcasts (because I couldn’t remember…), and it looks like the boom in 2014 took a bit (almost 2 years) to get to my ears, but once it did, I haven’t looked back. Podcasts and YouTube. If there is something I want to know how to do or need to know more about, I just look it up and learn.

So, I wanted to round all my favs up for you (yes you, reading this right now) to get in on the wisdom, too. Here are 8 pods & YT channels I can’t get enough of for branding and biz advice:

(Seriously, thank you to the people I’m about to mention, for all the free content and wisdom you share. It’s changed how I do business in a lot of ways!)

[ONE] YT: Ashlyn Writes

Ashlyn is “the copywriter for creatives”, and she has a channel packed full to make all your copywriting dreams come true. Even for someone like me, who is not a copywriter. I’ve been able to digest her free content to make sales pages, email sequences, and website pages – even that pesky “about me” page that I’ve always hated writing!

I paid for her VIP Home Page Homecoming experience last year, and it was: #1 so fun and #2 gave me even more ideas to make my home page better. I’ve also purchased some very helpful templates in her shop, and taken her Primed To Launch course. And no, it’s not all copy/paste, fill-in-the-blanks: she really teaches you how to use frameworks to find your own voice and learn to write for your own business in a way that gets you results.

If you do purchase, the investment is definitely worth it, but she gives so much away for free, too. An episode that helped me 1000% is this one on Services Pages (there’s actually a few videos on this). Highly recommend – watch Ashlyn here!

[TWO] Pod & YT: The Jasmine Star Show

Probably my favorite episode to date was May 24, 2022, “What A Millionaire’s Daily Routine ACTUALLY Looks Like”. I’m always curious about the behind-the-scenes of what someone (especially a highly successful female business owner – and with a family at home) actually does to get stuff done, and this was a great episode behind the curtain.

Beyond that, her content is always filled with great takeaways you can actually apply to your own business. She talks to a lot of different people, and covers different topics like social media, marketing, business, and mindset. I’m even learning about Crypto and NFTs, and getting very verryyyyy curious about how that is impacting our commerce and business as we know it.

I’ve learned a lot about planning content and caption frameworks from her, and been given the little pushes I need to get the heck going (she holds no punches and talks fast – I love it). Give Jasmine’s podcast and her YouTube channel a listen!

[THREE] YT: Tips With Trena

I started watching Trena’s channel because I started to realize how important videos are and why I need to make them. And post them… I’m just a chicken? HAHA. Kind of not joking.

Trena talks a lot about video, specifically on YouTube, and has the best advice and frameworks I’ve seen out there for free. She also talks about business, content, and goal planning, and what it’s like being a business owner, a mom, a wife, and working from home. She recently did a private vlog sharing BTS stuff that you only got to watch if you signed up.

Like I said, I’m always curious how others further along than me do it, and that was great to go behind the highlight reel. Get Trena’s tips here!

[FOUR] Pod: Online Marketing Made Easy

If you haven’t heard of Amy Porterfield, have you been living under a rock? KIDDING! Amy’s podcast is another one that always has really great advice and tips that you can literally start applying today. She talks about how to make your online business grow, money, email, social media… and courses.

I took her Course Confident Bootcamp last year, which helped me realize I could actually get a course off the ground – not just to sell and make money, but to ultimately help others with what you know how to do that they need help with.

That advice is the shift that has helped me really narrow down what I want to talk about, who I’m talking to, and how I want to help them. (PS: Amy has free guides and resources that you NEED, so check those out on her website.) Listen to Amy’s pod here!

[FIVE] Pod: The Goal Digger Podcast

I’ve been listening to The Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher since 2016. It was literally the first podcast I ever listened to that I KEPT listening to. I have no idea how I found it, or what I was doing on Apple Podcasts, because not many people around me were really even talking about podcasts at the time, except maybe my dad 🙂

I feel like I’ve literally watched Jenna grow her brand over the years – and in turn realized I could do the same. It’s inspiring how consistency and hard work really can pay off. Jenna talks about a lot of things on her podcast, but one of the things she loves to get into is email marketing and how important building your list is. She also talks all things running an online business with some life things in the mix.

Some of my most fav episodes are #628: Here’s What’s Currently Working To Grow My Email List, #621: The SEO Secrets To Growing Your Business Organically, and #613: How Content Creation Can Help Your Business Survive Anything. Give Jenna’s podcast a listen!

[SIX] Pod: The Good Day Podcast

This one is with Sarah Joy, and she talks life chats with some biz tips in the mix. I love her attitude. I want to work to be more like that – just happy and grateful. I found her on Insta and then later discovered her podcast and blog. I’ve liked all of the episodes, but the ones about her blogging story were pretty inspiring. I’ll let you listen to them, but she says she was just doing something she loved and kind of stumbled into blogging, not really knowing the potential it could have at the time.

Because I started my career in marketing over 12 years ago, I’ve known the potential blogging and creating content can have… So, for me that’s been the ENTIRE reason why I took so long to do anything about it. It’s a lot to take on! Her story has inspired me to do more of something that I love, and just see what comes of it, but not necessarily do something just because I think it will potentially make me money.

It’s also inspiring to know the possibilities from a real person who has been through a lot and done a lot with blogging on the ‘ol internet. Blogging isn’t dead, it’s actually one of the best ways to create content! Go listen to The Good Day Podcast!

[SEVEN] Pod: The Heart & Hustle Podcast

These ladies crack my butt up (my 4-year-old son coined the phrase, “you’re crackin’ my butt up, mom!”, and now it’s all I say). Not to mention the fact that they bring so much knowledge when it comes to creating content, social media, websites, money, mindset, efficiency, managing a team, etc. etc. etc. I could go on.

Lindsey and Evie are both photographers, so they do talk about photography, but it’s actually really applicable to anyone in a creative industry (like me, brand design). I’ve also taken their photography tips when shooting my own brand photos (yes, I take them myself – or my husband does). So, whether you’re a professional photographer or not, this is a must-listen.

This podcast has been one of the most helpful and not to mention pretty entertaining podcasts to listen to! If I could have a podcast with a co-host, I’d want it to be like this show. They just sound like they have fun together, but also know how to get down to business. If I want to both laugh and learn something, then I’d turn this one on. Listen to The Heart & Hustle pod here!

There you have it! My favorite podcasts and youtube channels to turn on, learn from, and – probably most important – go out and get stuff done.

I really love the head start that the world wide web can give you on just about anything. I want to be able to do that for others, like others have done for me. One of the ways I can do that is through content.

But, I don’t just want to create any ‘ol content. I want to create REALLY GOOD content!

I’ve always thought, at least to myself, that it was SUPER ridiculous for me to have a podcast where you’re just talking to yourself (like I am trying to do), or make videos for other people to watch, or even just posting static photos of myself….

However, I want to help others with their branding through my expertise.

I realize the importance of “making yourself human” and “giving your brand a face” and “showing your work”… And there’s really no way of doing that UNLESS I create some sort of content and show my smile.

It took me a while to figure that one out. I’m still figuring it out. How to do it, in a way that feels like me, not how others do it or how they say it “should” be done.

Quite honestly, slowly making mindset shifts like that, where you recognize that you actually have knowledge and expertise in something that could help others, is what’s made me get a LOT more serious about my business in the last year.

It’s not been easy, and it’s not been as consistent as I would like it to be (and know that it should be), but that mindset has helped me see that I really can and should be doing what I’m doing. Because I’m good at it, and there are people that need and are searching for what I have to offer!

So please, go listen and learn from everyone I mentioned above. But most importantly, ask yourself: What can you do that others don’t know how to do? Or, what do you do, in your own way? What areas are you gifted in, that you can help others get one step ahead? How can you cheer others on that are 3 steps behind you, and guide them to get to where you are now?

Happy listening – and DOING!
